The Road To Success

Are you embarking on a career in acting?

THE BUSINESS

Acting is one of the most precarious businesses you can choose.

If you are anything like me it’s your vocation, it’s your passion, and you just HAVE TO DO IT.

When I started out in this business I would wait at stage doors to meet my favourite actors in the hope of picking up gems of wisdom that I hadn't learned at drama school -

tips on how to become a successful actor. I was armed with talent and technique, I now wanted guidance when opportunities arose to make decisions and choices.

I was lucky if I had five minutes of their time and this certainly wasn't enough to really find out about the unknown path ahead of me.

I learnt the hard way, by experimentation, by throwing myself in at the deep end. A couple of the decisions (nee mistakes) I made certainly cost me dear! One decision cost me twenty years worth of potential earnings! It is a common mistake and you can avoid it.

Mentors

The dictionary defines the word mentor as a "wise and trusted counsellor or teacher."

Very few people achieve great success without personal mentors (Mark Victor Hansen and Robert G. Allen).

Sir Alec Guinness, for example, had Sir John Gielgud as his mentor. George Cole had Alistair Sim.

My most prominent mentor has been the legendary Steven Berkoff, he taught me the art of vulnerability in every character.

However, I lacked having a business mentor. I accumulated my knowledge along the way through experience and initiative.

We know there is a lot of nepotism in this profession. But if you are not in that fortunate position, as I wasn't, then a successful mentor is essential to avoid the pitfalls.

I am offering you the opportunity to learn from my success to give you a head start, which could save you years of wondering what to do next.

Would you like PERSONAL access to the only successful working actor offering 1-to-1 guidance on the BUSINESS of acting?

TRUE LEARNING BEGINS ON THE JOB and you need to be confident from Day One. To sustain longevity in your career you need a plan for all eventualities.

WHAT IS A SUCCESSFUL ACTING CAREER?

We all have our own definitions of success. My definition is waking up everyday with a smile on my face, knowing that I play characters that challenge me and that I make a very healthy living from the path I chose for myself – the path of being an actor. I left drama school in 1985 and there have been key choices I have made which gave me the career I dreamed of.

SUCCESS IS NOT JUST LUCK!

I don’t want you to waste time - I want you to be armed from the very beginning of your career with the knowledge I have learnt over the last twenty-five years.
